Update Policy

Nutrition reference values usually move slowly, but safety limits, supplement evidence, medication cautions, and agency guidance can change. This policy sets a practical review schedule without implying that older source dates are automatically wrong.

Every 6 Months

Review core nutrient pages, source links, source acquired dates, high-traffic vitamins and minerals, common bioactives, and any pages tied to safety cautions.

Every 12 Months

Perform a deeper review of the full library: nutrient values, forms, food and bioactive summaries, concern tags, comparison pages, safety topics, and source strength labels.

As Needed

Update immediately when a major authority changes DRI, DRV, upper limit, pregnancy guidance, medication interaction language, contaminant guidance, or clinically important safety wording.

Immediate Update Triggers

  • NIH Office of Dietary Supplements fact sheet changes
  • Health Canada DRI table or consumer guidance changes
  • National Academies DRI or upper limit updates
  • EFSA dietary reference value or tolerable upper limit updates
  • FDA, CDC, WHO, or major public-health safety notices
  • New major systematic reviews or clinical practice guidance
  • New cautions for pregnancy, lactation, children, older adults, kidney disease, liver disease, bleeding risk, thyroid conditions, diabetes, or medication interactions

Higher Priority Review Topics

These topics should be checked first because they are commonly searched, safety-sensitive, form-dependent, or more likely to change through upper-limit or interaction guidance.

Date Labels

Source Acquired

The date a source was added to or consulted for this app. This helps users understand when a link, page, or guidance document was last captured for reference.

Page Last Reviewed

The date the app page was checked against its cited sources and adjusted if needed.

Next Scheduled Review

The target date for the next planned review. It does not prevent earlier updates when safety or reference guidance changes.

Current working schedule: review core content every 6 months, complete a full-site evidence review annually, and update sooner when a credible source changes safety limits, reference intakes, contraindications, or population-specific guidance.
